Nick Curran: What did Manny Vasquez call you?
Catherine (Sharon Stone): Bitch mostly, but he meant it affectionately.
From Paul Verhoeven's Basic Instinct

Hollow ManBorn in Amsterdam in 1939, Paul Verhoeven took an unusual path to becoming one of Hollywood's top box office directors. After graduating from the University of Leiden with a degree in math and physics, he entered the Royal Netherlands Navy making documentaries for the navy and later TV. His experience with documentaries gave him the freedom to candidly explore human sexuality and raw emotion, both of which feature often in his fiction films.

After his film Soldaat van Oranje gained international renown, he moved to the United States, where he soon established his directing credits with hits such as Total Recall and Robocop. He went on to direct infamous films such as Basic Instinct (which launched Sharon Stone's career) and Showgirls (which was voted Worst Movie of the Decade at last year's Raspberry Awards). His forthcoming film is Rasputin.
