FILMFESTIVALS.COM AND FIPRESCI
ORGANIZATION PACT TO SHARE COMMON COVERAGE OF FILM FESTIVALS BERLIN,
FEB 12, 2001
BERLIN, FEB 12, 2001 - FilmFestivals.com the leading online server
for film festivals around the world, has finalized an agreement
with FIPRESCI, the worldwide organization of film critics, to use
content from their correspondents on FilmFestivals.com website,
it was announced by FilmFestivals COO, Bruno Chatelin and FIPRESCI
General Secretary Klaus Eder.
The contribution of FIPRESCI will consist mainly of film reviews
and reports from festivals. FilmFestivals.com will have the exclusive
privileged benefit from the FIPRESCI network of having access in
any territory and for any film event or film festival represented
by FIPRESCI's team of writers.
The members of FIPRESCI, film critics and film journalists in
over 60 countries worldwide, are specialists in writing on cinema.
FIPRESCI is best known publicly for its juries at major film festivals
throughout the world, awarding the "Prize of the International
Film Critics" at around 50 festivals each year. FIPRESCI provides
both its members and guests with news and reports from the international
film scene, from festivals and various film regions, and gives an
overview of the vast and varied film culture worldwide.
Stated Bruno Chatelin: "I was amazed to meet FIPRESCI executives
and realize we shared the exact same vision for a certain type of
cinema. Their mission statement runs almost identical to ours when
it comes to film "To promote film-art and to encourage new
and young cinema". Our editor Carol Shyman has had a working
relationship with them for some time now and is thrilled with the
openings this new synergy represents."
Klaus Eder adds: "Film festivals offer a wonderful opportunity
to get acquainted with world cinema. FilmFestivals.com and FIPRESCI
agreed on a cooperation to talk about these festivals and in particular,
about the richness and diversity of films they're presenting. Filmfestivals.com
offers all the facilities of a new international media. This gives
us critics the chance to leave the national and language borderlines
of our own publications and to extend our activities to an international
level. We're therefore welcoming this partnership enthusiastically."
FilmFestivals.com, the world's largest film festival server with
offices in France, the USA, U.K. and Italy, was founded by Malo
Girod de l'Ain, president, in 1995 when it created the first website
for the Cannes International Film Festival. The site now lists more
than 1,000 film festivals worldwide, and has extensive online tools
to help festival organizers, filmmakers, producers and distributors
in such areas as marketing, film
registration, web presence and ticket sales. FilmFestivalsTV produces
a monthly TV show, Non Stop Film Festivals, for worldwide syndication.
