The OFF de CANNES presents TOMORROW’s TALENTS (2012-2020)

The OFF de Cannes Contest 2012 of the Digital Film will take place till May 18th 2012

Theme “THE MEANING OF LIFE”

The image, music and fashion artists will have to evoke what has motivated them throughout the years. They will have to show why they will be tomorrow’s talents using a 3mm film. Since 2005, the Off de Cannes ceremony discovers and rewards tomorrow’s talents thanks to the contest on the web. The OFF de Cannes complete the Cannes International Film Festival because we are convinced that tomorrow’s talents express themselves today with digital movie posted on the web. They are the “avant garde” of the 2020 Cannes Festival. The selected films will all have to make sense in 2020. Avant-garde films are expected, using all available new technologies (3D, olfactory movies, audio-description, sub-titles) in order to make the audience discover to what extend technology would expand the use of our five sense at best (sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch). The spectator becomes an actor. But isn’t that the purpose of technology?

Created in Cannes since 2005 by Alain ZIRAH and Solène GUIONNET, the «OFF de Cannes» Ceremony reveals and rewards the new talents (Web and picture) through a contest of which the theme is this year: « The Meaning of Life » We wish to find the future festival heroes. They will have to show why they will be those in 2020, by using a 3mm film. Each candidate for the contest will have to illustrate and explain why he will still be a talent in 2020. For this contest, the candidates will have to respect the format for a 3mn video in one of the seven categories : Fiction : the pilot for a TV serial in 3mn Music (a vidéo clip, a song, music for film, opera, musical) Dance Fine Arts (photo, roman-photo, painting, sculptry, graphism, Street Art) Fashion Actor/Actress Humourist The OFF de Cannes have decided to complete the Cannes International Film Festival with music and fashion because we are convinced that tomorrow’s talents express themselves today with digital movie cameras and Smartphones to create videos they then broadcast on the web. The cinema is completed, caught up or even overtaken by television, computers & Smartphones… The web plays an important part in the instant and worldwide braodcasting of the pictures. Besides, the OFF de Cannes have decided to have their own website (creation Georges GOMIS) according to their ambitions.
