The
Panorama section comprises a dozen of films that represent a mirror of
production during the last year. In this section the festival-goer will
be able to see Three Season by Tony Bui, which was presented in the official
selection at Berlin 99 as well as Blood Simple by Joel Coen. This film
originally came out in 1984 and was discovered at the Deauville Festival
that year. Fifteen years later, the festival will present the director's
cut version never before presented.
The
Avant-Premieres section is comprised of fifteen films, this time presenting
top-grossing box office films that have not as yet opened in France, or
in many cases, in Europe. Opening the festival, Analyze This by Harold
Ramis with Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal. Add to the list the new version
of The Thomas Crown Affair, Jakob The Liar for the Robin Williams homage,
Ride with the Devil for the Ang Lee homage and then end it all with William
Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream by Michael Hoffmann.
