HISTORY (pre-history !)

The company was founded in 1995 and first produced a CD-Rom on the Cannes Film Festival as well as created their first official website. This successful experience developed into a focus on film festivals all over the world. Filmfestivals.com was registered on July 26, 1995. Yes, you read it right, 95!

1996 - coverage of the major international film festivals in partnership with Moving Pictures International, a British film industry magazine.
1997 - creation of the worldwide festival directory and a monthly bulletin board
1998 - Expanded to include films reviews, pertinent articles…
1999 - Launched the film and festival databases, a weekly news edition and services to festival organizers and filmmakers.
2000 - Launch of pro site and new version of french and Internatonal sites.
2001 - Launch of the film interactive experience at Sundance. Company has built a catalogue of 50 films and 150 shorts.
2002 - Launch of the Festival Circuit.
2003 - Launch of the Buyers Lounge for Cannes Market
Partnership with Cannes, Los Angeles Festival, Karlovy Vary, Venice, IFP Market, MIFED...

FilmFestivals.com achieved a record audience in may 2003 with 9 million pages and 890 000 visitors, aimed at both movie buffs and professionals, focusing on film festivals and motion picture events. The site content is bilingual, English and French.

The filmfestivals.com team has 10 staffers and a large network of correspondants.


COMPANY
Today the company is privately owned, the majority of the shares owned by management. In April 2000, the company raised a first round of financing among large european Venture Capital companies.
Subsequently the investors have reinvested late 2001 and early 2003 in a third round to accelerate the development of the company. Legal mentions

THE MANAGEMENT TEAM

Malo Girod de l'Ain, CEO
The Company was founded in 1995 by Malo Girod de l'Ain, who created the first official website for Cannes International Film Festival and went on to develop the Internet's leading website for film festivals.

Previously, he was involved in the computer software industry for more than 10 years. He held VP and President positions in venture capital and software publishing companies and was a management and data processing consultant in New York and Paris. He holds a doctorate in engineering in addition to a law diploma.

Bruno Chatelin, COO Marketing Sales and Managing Editor
Bruno Chatelin was in charge of the launch of over 250 films during his tenure as Marketing Director and Managing Director for Columbia TriStar Films and Twentieth Century FOX. In 1995 he initiated and managed the joint venture between French major UGC and FOX and led it to the leading position in the french market. Mr. Chatelin brings experience in promotional strategies for interactive media. He has created two commercial websites for small-business entrepreneurs (individuals working from home, or companies with fewer than 10 people). He holds an MBA from HEC (École des hautes études commerciales). He is a voting member for Cesar academy, European Film Academy and co chair of Hollywood European Awards. He has served in a couple of festival juries.

Louis Reyes, Chief Finance Officer From 1989 to 1993
Mr. Reyes-Tanguy served as CFO at Gaumont (one of the largest European film production companies and a major film exhibitor). He also was a member of the board of directors at Le Point, an international weekly news magazine. Before joining FilmFestivals.com, Louis headed the production and finance department of an Internet and CD-ROM publishing company.

Henri Kong, VP Technology
Born in China and holding a doctors degree in telecommunications, Henri has worked for the past 15 years in the development of tools for the database industry and the Internet.

Georges Feniger, Executive VP Business Development and Acquisitions
After ten years with EXXON, mainly involved in strategic planning, he started his own practice in management consulting as a specialist in high tech strategies. He personally conducted more than 75 development projects for various companies and to date has conducted 15 Internet business projects. He brings his expertise in business development to FilmFestivals.com. Georges holds an MBA from HEC and New York University.
