GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
  • To develop cultural exchange among the Asia Pacific countries
  • To present the cinema of Asia Pacific Region in Russia
  • To introduce the contemporary Russian cinema to the Asia Pacific cinema industry
  • To contribute positive experience in the development of cinema art
  • To discover and support the new names and perspectives in cinema art 

Competition screening includes:

  • Features and shorts (up to 30 min).

Non-competition programs:

  • Panorama
  • Russian Cinema
  • Special and Info screenings
  • Retrospective screening of the World Cinema Masters
  • Seminars and workshops

RULES OF PARTICIPATION

Festival participation:

  • Eligible are any films presented by film companies, film studios, independent producers, distributors or any other copyright owners of the films
  • Those who would like to participate in the 8th Vladivostok International Film Festival should fill out the entry-form and e-mail it at coordinator@viff.vl.ru prior to 20th of June, 2010.
  • DVDs are to be shipped to the Festival Office for preliminary selection at the expense of the sender to the following address: 521 office "Hyundai" Hotel, 29, Semenovskaya st.,

    Prior to June 20th, 2010

Competition:

  • Feature and short films on 35mm, with English subtitles, and finished by production after January 1st, 2009 are eligible for Competition  
  • Competition can include films that were screened before at other film festivals
  • Competition should include not less than 12 films

Non-competition programs

  • All the professional media formats besides 16 mm are eligible for non-competition programs.
  • The films for the 8th VIFF are selected by selection committee. The final decision whether to include film in one of the Festival programs is to be made by the Festival Management till July 1st, 2010.
  • The Festival Management will inform the Festival participants about including their films in one of the Festival programs not later then July 5th, 2010.
  • The film prints included in the Festival program should be received by the Festival Management in their original format and before September 10th, 2010.
  • The screening schedule is defined by the Festival Management.
  • Each film can be screened only during the Film Festival and not more than 5 times.
  • All the deadlines are mandatory.


The international Jury gives over the following awards for the films IN Competition

  • Best Feature Award
    (accompanied by a 625 000 RUB cash prize)
  • Best Short Film Award
    (accompanied by a 375 000 RUB cash prize)
  • The Special Jury Award
    (accompanied by a 250 000 RUB cash prize)
  • Best Director Award
    (accompanied by a 375 000 RUB cash prize)
  • Best Actor Award
    (accompanied by a 250 000 RUB cash prize)
  • Best Actress Award
    (accompanied by a 250 000 RUB cash prize)

Special Awards:

  • 9 288 km Award from the governor of Primorsky territory 
    (accompanied by a 375 000 RUB cash prize)
  • The Audience Award for Best Russian Film
    (accompanied by a 125 000 RUB cash prize)
  • Yul Brynner Award
  • Award from the Vladivostok Mayor
  • Awards from the Festival partners

 

Submitting a Film

There are distinct regulations covering participation in each section of the Festival. In any case, we ask you to read the Festival's Regulations for film entries carefully.

Please note that all information currently given on these pages refers to the Pacific Meridian 2010 and is given subject to alteration in order to offer a general insight into film entry procedures.

In order to submit a film to the Festival you have to send the film and the completed entry form to the Festival before the given deadline. Entry forms can be sent by fax or by regular mail - or simply by using our Film Entry Form.

The duly completed entry form sent automatically to the Festival Commission. The confirmation of the entry form arrival will be sent to you automatically.

Filmmakers can also apply online on fest21.com in order to enter the International Film Festival “Pacific Meridian” database and complete the submission process

Once your film has been entered in the database you must print your fest21.com film registration page and ship to the festival with the tape/DVD and payment.
