CIFF – Cyprus International
Film Festival
CIFF 2006 –
1st Cyprus International Film Festival is a four day event, 24 –
27 March 2006 to be held in two sea side cities Larnaca and Limassol
and the capital Nicosia. The screening of Films as well as the satellite
events will be spread in all three cities (no more than an hour away
from each other).
It is a competition
Festival with six competition categories
1. Feature Film (all genres) Please note that only first, second or
third feature length film may be submitted for the GOLDEN APHRODITE
award competition. All others will be included in Panorama
2. Documentary
3. Short film
4. Commercial
5. Music Video
6. Video Art
Other sections include
Tribute to a Cypriot (Michael Kakoyannis), European, American (Francis
Ford Coppola) / Other Film Director
Screening of selected films by award winning Cypriot directors
Panorama (selected films out of competition)
Cult – Midnight Movies
Nostimon Emar – films by Greek / Cypriot directors of diaspora
(abroad)
Ef Agonisesthe (Fair Play) – films, the theme of which is sport
and athleticism
The Satellite Events are
Two Workshops on ‘Special Effects’ and ‘Make Up
for Movies’
Two Day Seminar on Cinema Film Script Writing
One Day Conference on ‘Funding and International Film &
Video Distribution’
Portrait Photo Gallery of Stars (actors, actresses and directors)
taken during the last ten years of the Cannes Film Festival
Visual Arts Exhibition (paintings and sculpture) entitled ‘Aphrodites’
Theatre ‘SORRY, SOLD OUT!’ by Exonimos Theatre, Athens
(English subtitles)
The “Golden Aphrodite” prize of €15.000 will be awarded
to the winner of the Feature Film Category and the director will use
the money to shoot his next film in Cyprus.
