HOLE, NEW SETTING FOR INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, HOLLYWOOD SIGNS
ON
Jackson Hole,
Wyoming – The Film Industry is buzzing about the upcoming
Jackson Hole Film Festival taking place in Jackson Hole, Wyoming
June
8 – 12, 2005.
This five-day
event is supported by some of the most talented and passionate individuals
from the entertainment industry, and will showcase first-run independent
films from all over the world while further promoting education
and cultural diversity in the film industry and Jackson Hole. The
festival will display some of the most compelling, dramatic and
distinctive representations of what the world of independent film
has to offer. Panel discussions, workshops and educational settings
will take place to nurture young talent with some of the most successful
names in the business on hand to advise and challenge future filmmakers,
actors, musicians and artists. With all of the extra-curriculars
Jackson Hole has to offer, film lovers and outdoor adventure-seekers
from around the world will flock to take part in this week of film,
fun and festivities.
Locals Eben
Dorros and Lorne Maltenfort are the executive
directors and driving forces behind this exciting addition to Jackson’s
calendar. Eben, currently living between New York City and Jackson
Hole, is a graduate of NYU where he received two masters degrees
at the esteemed university, one in music composition with a specialization
in film, and another in music business.
“I am really excited to help bring films and entertainment to
Jackson in a way that has never been done before. The festival’s
goal is to provide an atmosphere for striving filmmakers and screenwriters,
as well as individuals within the industry, who want to be heard,
or learn about the intricacies of this industry. Jackson’s beauty
and culture will be showcased to a completely different group of
people.” says Dorros.
“Jackson’s warmth and love for cultural diversity is truly a
perfect setting to put Jackson on the map in the film and entertainment
world.” Lorne, a former entertainment lawyer,
and new resident of Jackson has been busy getting the festival up
and running in his new stomping grounds.
"The Jackson Hole Film Festival has the unique responsibility
and honor of being the true voice for independent filmmakers by
providing a venue where the focus is in on their work and not overshadowed
by large budget quasi-independent films."
With several big name players behind the scenes, the festival promises
to bring originality, experience, and first-rate films, which only
the touch of Hollywood can guarantee.
One of the names, and no stranger to Hollywood, actor and local
Wyoming resident James Le Gros, whom may be recognized
from his roles in Point Break or even Lovely and Amazing to name
a few, is just one of the many people committed to making this festival
the go-to-festival for film lovers all over the world. “This
venue will provide a showcase that highlights vision and the process
of the filmmaker, encouraging festival goers in a dialogue with
the filmmakers and thus fostering new growth and new talent.”
Alan Hirschfield, former Chairmen and CEO of Twentieth Century
Fox Film Corporation and Columbia pictures has this to say about
the upcoming festival: “The JHFF is a much needed event that
will benefit both filmmakers and their audience. It promises to
restore the balance between creativity and commerciability - something
now overlooked in many of the most popular film festivals today.
For Jackson Hole the festival will offer a unique opportunity for
locals and visitors alike to view creative offerings in world famous
surroundings.”
With the beauty of Jackson, coupled with the eclectic mix of films
on display, Jackson Hole is set to be the perfect scene for culture,
education, entertainment and festivities this September. The local
theatres are ready and Hollywood is waiting as Jackson Hole will
be transformed into a haven for emerging talent, film critics, screen
players, actors and the film-going public, all coming together to
celebrate and embrace the independent film and the beauty of Jackson
Hole.
