Algerian-born, Paris-based director Merzak Allouache will follow Market-screener Salut cousin! with J'ai reve New York, a French-language comedy set to roll in New York late 97 for France's IMA Productions.
It tells the story of an elderly African in France who dreams about the slave boats leaving for America. Salut cousin! star Gad Almaleh will play his grandson, with whom he travels to New York.
Allouache is also developing a script for an ARTE-funded television feature about an Algerian journalist. AM
